5 Super-Charged Vegan Smoothie Recipes to Start Your Day

Image of two peanut butter and jelly smoothies in mason jars

We've all heard that popular and slightly annoying saying 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day’.

And hey, we'd be hungry fools if we ignored the advice of the many health people/experts/gurus giving us this important heads up.

But, if you're like us, mornings can often feel a little rushed. We're lucky if we make it out the door with our teeth brushed. Don't judge!

So, if you're struggling with time and want something super quick and healthy to grab in the mornings - our super-charged vegan smoothie recipes have got you covered.

(Note: to avoid such covering, always remember to put the lid on your blender.)

1) Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie

200ml plant-based milk

150g frozen raspberries (if you prefer to use fresh ones, add a couple of ice cubes to the smoothie)

1 heaped tbsp of peanut butter

1 heaped tbsp of rolled oats

1 scoop of protein powder (optional)

2) Green Soulful Smoothie

250ml natural coconut water

1 frozen banana

2 big handfuls of leafy greens (such as spinach or kale)

2 tbsp of flaxseeds

2cm fresh ginger

juice of 1/2 lemon

3) Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go Coffee Smoothie

120ml cold black coffee (Top tip: make the night before and cool in fridge overnight, or add an extra teaspoon of instant coffee when making it and add ice cubes to cool down quickly.)

60ml plant-based milk

1 frozen banana

1 tbsp peanut butter

1/2 tbsp raw cacao powder

1 scoop of protein powder (optional)

4) Green, Lean, Pineapple Machine Smoothie

200g pineapple (peeled, cored and cut into chunks)

75g spinach leaves

25g oats

2 tbsp linseeds, flaxseeds or hemp seeds

a few mint leaves

juice of 1/2 lime

5) Fiery Ginger Shot

(Ok, technically not a smoothie, but wow, do they give you a boost!)

50g fresh ginger, peeled and roughly chopped

Juice from 2 lemons

Recipe makes around 150-200ml (recommended shot size between 25-50ml)

Peel your fresh ginger. Roughly chop into chunks and add to blender.

Squeeze the two lemons and add the juice to the blender. Blitz until smoothish and then strain through a tea strainer/sieve. Keep in the fridge.

These recipes need minimum effort (apart from the odd chop and a squeeze). Just chuck the ingredients in a blender and blitz!

If you find the smoothie too thick, just add some water. Too thin? Sprinkle in some chia seeds.

And another bonus tip (we're feeling generous) - make it the night before to have it patiently waiting in the fridge for you come morning. Prep is a beautiful thing!
